Blue eyes stared into green, the door cracked just enough for Haru to see out, but Micheal couldn’t see in.
“Why are you here?”
He smiled at her.
“Why wouldn’t I be here?”
Haru glared at him, but he continued to smile.
“You stopped writing.”
“Haru, who is at the door?”
The door jerked open, Tristren standing beside Haru. He glared at the young man on the other side, his height rivaling Tristren’s. The teenager wrapped an arm around Haru’s shoulders.
“Do you want me to make him leave?”
Haru stared at Micheal a moment, before shrugging Tristren’s arm off.
“No. Keep an eye on Pochi, I’ll be back to make you guys breakfast in a bit.”
She stepped out of the apartment, closing the door behind her.
“I see you’ve got a roommate now.”
“Why are you here?”
“To see you, of course. It’s been months.”
“You stopped writing.”
“Did I?”
He reached behind him and grasped a sack, dropping it at her feet.
“It’s hard to find a post office when you’re in the jungle. I wrote you every week, but I never found a way to get them to you.”
Haru looked down at the bag, then back up at Micheal.
“…How was your trip?”
“You missed me.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Because I know you, Haru. I know what’s in here…”
He pressed a finger against her forehead, smiling warmly at her.
“And what’s in here.”
Tan fingers pointed to her heart.
“Let me take you to dinner tonight. I’ll tell you all about the trip.”
Haru looked away.
“I have kids to take care of, Micheal.”
“I’m sure the one that looks as if he wanted to kill me would be more than happy to help you out.”
Micheal stepped closer to her, tilting her chin so she had to look at him.
“Admit it. You’ve missed me.”
She stared at him, her eyes glaring still.
“Never.”
“Is that so? I’m sure I can persuade you.”
Haru stepped back, a small blush on her face.
“Fine. I missed you.”
Micheal smiled warmly, chuckling softly.
“I’ll pick you up at five.”
